M2M Ferries Private Limited (M2M Ferries) has been formed by the promoters of Mandwa Port LLP who have developed, operated and managed the passenger terminal at Mandwa. M2M Ferries has teamed up with the Maharashtra Maritime Board and Mumbai Port Trust to utilize Mumbai’s waterways more effectively by launching Maharashtra’s first-ever Roll-On-Roll-Off-Passenger (Ro-Pax for short) Ferry service.
The Ro-Pax Ferry service is brought to you by M2M Ferries Private Limited in a joint initiative with the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) and the Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT).
Together we aim to elevate the travel experience of both tourists and locals by adding a faster, safer, more convenient and affordable mode of transportation to reduce the load on roadways and railways; all of this while offering people the option to bring their vehicles along, a service that existing ferry operators do not offer.
Most importantly, the ferry service is a combined effort towards reducing environmental pollution and reducing road-traffic congestion.
M2M Ferries is committed to providing cost-effective and convenient waterway connectivity for both walk-on passengers and passengers with their vehicles (cars, motorbikes and cycles) between Mumbai and Mandwa by reducing the usual travel time from 5 hours by road (111km) to just 1 hour by sea (19km).
As part of a joint initiative with the Mumbai Port Trust (MBPT) and the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB), M2M Ferries aims to offer a world-class ferry service that is on par with cities around the world that offer similar Ro-Pax services. This ferry service aims to improve accessibility to the Mandwa region whilst lowering the pollution of vehicles travelling to the region.
With the Ro-Pax ferry service making it possible for people to bring their vehicles on-board and sailing easily between Mumbai and Mandwa within an hour, we’re all set to boost connectivity to Mandwa. The ferry service will set Mandwa up to be the preferred gateway to popular Konkan destinations like Alibaug, Kihim, Kashid, Murud while even reducing the on-road time to Goa.
We hope to also see the Ro-Pax service increase job opportunities in Mumbai and Mandwa given that the Ro-Pax Ferry is primed for effortless daily commute from both destinations come rain or shine!
The brand-new Ro-Pax Ferry, now named M2M-1, was built in September 2019 and acquired from Greece. The Ro-Pax Ferry service is capable of carrying upto 500 passengers and 150 vehicles that will include cars, motorbikes and cycles, which will help save precious time in an otherwise lengthy journey.
